Your heart pounds in your chest as you make a break for the subway entrance, dodging through the panicked crowd. The ground trembles beneath you with each of Karen’s massive footsteps, a constant reminder of the looming danger above. You hear her playful, taunting voice echo through the city streets behind you.
“Run, run, little ones… but you can’t hide forever,” she coos, followed by a delighted laugh that sends chills down your spine.
You practically leap down the subway stairs, diving into the relative darkness of the underground. The stale, humid air hits you immediately, mixed with the scent of sweat and old concrete. People flood the platform in a chaotic swarm, screaming and jostling each other as they push toward the train tracks.
Somewhere above, Karen’s booming footsteps continue, reverberating through the station like distant thunder. Each step sends dust trickling down from the cracked ceiling, and the flickering fluorescent lights tremble with every impact. You press yourself against the grimy tiled wall, trying to steady your breath.
“She’s not coming down here, right?” a man beside you gasps, wide-eyed and drenched in sweat.
Before you can respond, an earth-shattering BOOM echoes overhead, and a deafening CRACK splits through the ceiling. Chunks of concrete rain down, and suddenly, a massive boot crashes through the roof, flattening a screaming cluster of people in an instant. The force sends a shockwave through the subway, knocking you off your feet and filling the air with a choking cloud of dust and debris.
Screams erupt all around you, but it’s drowned out by Karen’s amused laughter filtering down through the newly-formed gaping hole.
“Oh dear,” she giggles, peering down into the wreckage. Her massive blue eyes scan the panicked crowd below, delighting in their helplessness. “Looks like I’ve found your little hiding spot.”
You scramble to your feet, your mind racing for a way out, but before you can move, her colossal hand reaches down through the shattered ceiling. Screams rise all around you as people scatter, but it’s too late. Her fingers curl around you with shocking precision, scooping you up effortlessly.
You gasp as you’re lifted into the air, the ground falling away beneath you. The wind rushes past your face as you ascend back into the sunlight, and before you know it, you’re face to face with the towering redhead.
“There you are,” she purrs, tilting her head with a mischievous grin. “I must say, you’re braver than most, running down there like that.”
You stare in frozen terror, her fingers coiled securely around you, pinning your arms to your sides. Her warmth is overwhelming, her grip firm but careful—as if she’s savoring the moment before deciding what to do with you.
The city sprawls below, the street littered with abandoned cars and scattered people. From this height, it all feels so small, so insignificant.
Karen smirks and gives you a gentle shake, her eyes twinkling with amusement. “Now, what should I do with you, hmm?”
