Two giant sneakers appear in front of me. I crane my neck up to see the massive legs of a teen girl. The skirt she wears looks like a school uniform. She towers over me like a skyscraper, and I can't really make out her face. I can, however, see her pink polka-dot underwear. The girl looks down at the necklace. "People can be so careless," she says disapprovingly, in a British accent, as she reaches for it. Her large hand wraps around the chain. I see that her fingernails are painted with an intricate design of the English flag.
As she lifts the necklace up, I realize that I am tangled in the other end of the chain. Quickly I try and free myself, but it is already too late. I rapidly rise into the air, swinging wildly. The girl doesn't seem to notice me. She is too busy admiring the gem on the other end. "Emeralds are my favorite," she murmurs to herself. "Maybe I can splurge, just this once."
I am still caught in the chain when the giant girl stands up. She walks to the counter where Alice stands. "How much for this necklace?"
"That one is thirty-five dollars," responds Alice, looking over the other girl's shoulder. "A cute guy was looking at those just a second ago. I wonder where he went."
The girl with the British accent shrugs, grinning. "I didn't see any cute guys. I'm painfully single right now, so I would have noticed him. Oh, well, I think I will buy this."
Alice rings the girl up and takes her money. "Would you like a bag?"
"No, I will wear it out. Thanks anyway." I am again lifted into the air. The chain straightens, and suddenly I am falling. My heart pounds, and I am sure I am about to die. Then I slam into something hard and realize that I am on the gemstone. I manage to hold on as the giantess places the piece of jewelry around her neck. Each step she takes is like an earthquake to me.
I need to get her attention to get myself back to normal size, but I am not sure if it is a good idea while she is walking. I hang on as she walks....
