Courtney, his best friend, waving him over

"Hey man!" Courtney calls out to Richard as he walks over. "You look like you just rolled out of bed." She says jovially.

"For the record, I showered before I came in, thank you very much." He said back quickly. They had a teasing dynamic, this sort of interaction was normal for them but he was still tired this morning so his normal comeback were still in bed, where he would rather be.

"They got pancakes today." She said as she lifted a forkful of pancake. "Though they are going fast, I don't know if there will be any left when you get up there." She says as she takes a bite.

"Really?" Richard says with a bit more spring in his step. "I'll head up right now." He put his bag down and quickly walked over to the food vendors to grab a meal, specifically hunting for pancakes.

He got half his wish, there were still pancakes available. Well, pancake. There was one pancake left, it was a bit cold and a bit hard, but such was college life, not like he stayed here for the food anyway. Grabbing the pancake, some fruit, and half a bagel he walked back over to his table and saw...
