Red Hood ventured forth on his own to investigate reports of strange illumination in the night sky over the East End. What were northern lights doing over Gotham? Red Hood was going to find out.
The masked man traversed the rooftops, leaping and grappling his way through the city. He grumbled. Ill tempered he was being sent off to investigate weird lights rather than fighting crime by Batman's side. Maybe the old man didn't want him around? That, or he was too scared to knowingly send Jason into danger again. It touched his cold heart to know his surrogate father cared about him so deeply. If only he cared enough to save him the first time. He wasn't a kid anymore, anyway. Fighting was his choice. It was all he ever knew. To be sidelined like this put him in a special type of mood. The kind that made him want to go out and cause some brain damage. It wasn't killing, right? As long as he left them breathing.
Red Hood noticed the colorful illumination in the sky overhead the closer he got to the East End.
"Woah, okay, that is weird."
Jason zoomed in and snapped a photo of the lights with his helmet's built-in HUD. His mask uploaded the image to the batcomputer, which ran it through a thorough analysis. Finally, his HUD properly identified what he was looking at.
"The Aurora Borealis? At this time of day, in this part of the world, located scenic in Gotham's East End? Something doesn't add up here."
The vigilante traveled a few blocks closer. He got a better look.
"Then who could possibly be causing all this voodoo magic shit?"
A glowing beam shot downward from the clouds, causing a buildup of light on one of the rooftops.
"What the hell...?"
Jason sprinted in that direction. By the time he had arrived, the light had dissipated entirely. He grappled up to the rooftop where he saw it touch the building. He only grew more confused when he found seemingly nothing at all. He took a few steps forward with caution, his pistols leaving their holsters.
