The ancient map below you contained approximate directions to your village! Though parts of the map had been lost or rendered unreadable by dirt and smudged ink, it was likely only a matter of time before this woman decoded it.
"She's hunting us!" you think, beginning to panic. Was she just an academic hoping to learn more about fairies? Or something more sinister? You had heard stories of the high price captured fairies bring in these giant societies but you didn't know why. Were they kept as curios? Pets? FOOD?!? You had to find a way to warn your village!
With your thoughts racing, you had no time to react as a sudden jolt from the hunter's head sent you tumbling off the hat. "Ugh..." You groan as you pick yourself up, bruised but not seriously hurt. But where did you land? Looking down in horror, you find yourself in the center of the hunter's map!
BANG!
With a deafening crack, you find yourself imprisoned under the empty glass of the hunter's drink, the walls still coated with the faint smell of alcohol. You look up in horror to see your new captor smiling down at you smugly.
"Unbelievable! I've spent years trying to track you fairies, but I spend two nights in this backwater town and I have one literally fall into my lap?" You hear the hunter exclaim through the glass. "You have no idea how excited I am to see you little one. Here, let me get a better look at you..."
You instinctively recoil as your captor lowers her head to the table just inches from you. Adjusting her gold rimmed glasses, her round cheeks break into another wide smile. You didn't yet know what this giantess wanted, but you had a feeling she wasn't going to take no for an answer.
"Oh boy, you're really a prime specimen too. If only you were a few feet taller, I might buy you a glass instead of trapping you under one... But, nonetheless, I think we have much to discuss." In an instant, you watched as the hunter's smile fall. As scary as it was to see her delighted by your capture, it was somehow scarier to see her serious.
"Now, you may have guessed I'm looking for fairies," She began, her breath lightly fogging the walls of your glass prison. "Finding you here tells me I must be pretty close. If you tell me where I can find more of your kind, I'll let you go without a scratch on you, promise. Deal?"
You considered your options. The hunter seemed shrewd. Negotiating with this woman was likely your only chance of escaping her clutches. But could you really sacrifice your whole village just to save yourself from a danger you put yourself in? Defiantly, you stare down your captor and shake your head no. Your captor's face drops in to a mocking pout.
"Aw, you don't want to negotiate with Hettie little one? Well, I've come a long way to find you. If asking nicely isn't going to work..."
