"Ah, right sorry. Freckles, hold this" And with that, Rocky let go of the coffin, sending Freckles stumbling as he tried to keep it from dropping, and ran over to grab Ike off the tombstone...
20-ish years ago
7-year-old Issaac O'Malley sat alone on a stump in the middle of the woods just outside St Louis. He's sat there for the last 10 hours, waiting for his parents to come back.
His stomach growls, he hasn't eaten since breakfast that morning.
...
He's starting to think they're not coming back.
Its going to get dark soon. He doesn't know the way home...what did he do. Why did they just decide to leave him here? Did he do something wro-
"Oh! Hi!" A strangely peppy voice rings out from behind the stump, and draws Issaac's view straight upwards...
Oh no.
Its a biggun. A grey cat Biggun with eyes that are way, way too wide. Looks...fairly young but...still huge compared to him.
"I'm Rocky! Who are yo-"
"P-please dont eat me!"
"...Ok so clearly theres been a bit of a miscommunication here." Rocky had never actually seen a human this close before. He was leaning down so that his face, and more specifically his mouth, was all that Issaac could really see. "I'm not gonna hurt you! I just..saw you sitting out here all by yourself. What are you doing out here?"
"...W-waiting for my parents to come back" Issaac is still fairly terrified.
"Really? I mean its gonna be dark soon..." Rocky grins again. "Wanna come back to my aunt's house with me? We can probably get you inside for the night and come back here to wait for them to come back in the morning?"
Issaac was torn. On the one hand, this is a Biggun. He's been taught not to trust those since he was born. On the other hand, the people who had taught him that had left him alone in the woods. He decided to take his chances. "...sure"
And that is how Issaac O'Malley ended up staying in the McMurray house. He, Rocky and occasionally Freckles would come back to that stump every morning, and wait for Issaac's parents to come back for a solid year before Issaac finally accepted they had abandoned him.
If not for Rocky, Issaac would of died in the woods that first night, and never grown up to be Ike. And that is why Ike acts as if someone fifty times his size and, admittedly, prone to annoying him, is his own flesh and blood...
Modern Day
Rocky casually placed Ike into a shirt pocket before running over to help Freckles with the coffin...
