Chapter #3Personal Growth by: BeeJay   Seventeen-year-old Katrina North had the biggest crush on Chuck West. Unfortunately, he seemed barely aware of her existence. Except for third period, where they sat across from each other, they had no classes together; since that was Study Hall, it didn't give her too much opportunity to talk with him. But she could dream, and that didn't cost a thing.
One day, after the bell rang ending third period, Katrina took her backpack to lunch. Finding a spot in the cafeteria that was out of the way, she took out her laptop and turned it on.
Or at least, she thought she had taken out her laptop. When she turned it on, however, she quickly realized that it wasn't hers. The tipoff was the background: Instead of a picture of Chuck West, this laptop had some artwork of a very large girl walking among the skyscrapers of a major city. Some of the buildings were taller than the girl, but not by as much as they should be.
Opening a file folder marked Boring School Stuff, Katrina found more pictures of women. Some were drawn, but some were pictures of women from the movies. They were all gigantic, ranging from thirty to sixty feet tall.
"Excuse me?"
Katrina looked up. Chuck West was standing there.
"I think we got our laptops mixed up."
"Oh!" she said, quickly closing the folder before handing Chuck his laptop. "I was wondering whose that was."
As Chuck walked away, the words filled Katrina's mind: Chuck West has a giantess fetish.
Her heart sank in disappointment. Now that she knew he had a thing for giant women, she could kiss her dreams goodbye: At only five feet, four inches, she was far too small for his tastes.
She went through the rest of the day on autopilot, then went home. She despaired of ever catching Chuck West's eye again, and cursed the fates that had made her so short. If only she could be tall enough for him...
But she knew she couldn't. Instead, after supper and homework, she went straight to bed.
What Katrina North didn't know was that she wasn't the ordinary girl she appeared to be. Instead, she actually possessed the ability to grow. She hadn't learned this before, because she had only wanted to be a few inches taller, and her power didn't work that way. She had to want to be much taller, not by inches, but by feet. Of course, she had never wanted such a thing before; why would she?
But she wanted it now; and, as she would soon discover, there are times when dreams really can come true.
