Living on a Hellmouth can have... interesting effects; one's self image can be reflected back onto themselves in reality, as happened several times to girls who felt invisible, and then became so. This tendency only amplified as the First Evil made it's attempt to escape.
Dawn was not feeling invisible; surrounded by potential Slayers, Dawn felt out of shape and so the Hellmouth caused her to start gaining weight. Naturally this only reinforced her self image, causing the Hellmouth to make her grow bigger.
In an attempt to be a big sister, Buffy tried to convince Dawn, whose confidence naturally was at an all time low, that she was still sexy, despite her gain. Unfortunately this had her thinking of Dawn in a sexual way, if only to convince Dawn of her sex appeal, and the Hellmouth, prodded by the First Evil, leapt on this, converting those thoughts into a genuine, and growing, lust for Dawn.
How long will Dawn be stuck in her cycle of growth, how big will she be when she finally breaks it, and how long can Buffy restrain her new feelings?
