Mom and Dad took pictures of me in my graduation cap and gown. "How do I look?" I asked.
"You look great," Allison said.
Mom beamed. "You don't look anything like I did when I was in my second trimester."
I patted my belly. "Well, puppies don't develop like human babies do. Don't worry; in just a couple of weeks, I'll be growing so fast, you won't believe it."
Once the pictures were taken, we got into the minivan, and went to the stadium.
I took my seat with the graduating class, and waited. Boy, did I wait. Graduation ceremonies can be tedious, and this one was no exception.
The principal spoke, and he didn't know how not to be boring. Then the valedictorian spoke; something about the possibilities that lay ahead of us. Maybe I should have paid more attention; but I already knew full well what was possible.
Finally, we were called up, one at a time, to receive our diplomas. Once that was done, we turned our tassels, and threw our caps in the air.
After the ceremony, we stood around, discussing our plans. "I'm taking a year off," I said, "before I go to college. I've got some plans for that time, don't worry."
I wonder what they would say, if they knew that those plans involved my having a litter of puppies?
