Title: P4-DM3
Characters: Padme Amidala
Genre: Robotization
Type: Upload
Description: Palpatine's plans for immortality started, in secret, before he became the emperor, including a wave of modified medical droids capable of creating a copy of an individual's mind, with the intention of uploading this engram into a clone body. By accident, one of these droids ends up in the vessel where Padme Amidala is taken after the confrontation with Anakin on Mustafar and, after she gave birth to her children, while Obi Wan and Bail Organa are focused on the children, the droid does it's job and created an engram of Padme's mind.
However after this Bail and Obi Wan wiped the memories of all the droids on board (except R2-D2) and leave the ship adrift to cover their tracks, and it would not be for many years, in the era of rebellion (Rebels S1 - A New Hope) until scavengers located the ship, at which point the reactivated droid, whose self diagnostics alerted it to the engram in the secret secondary memory drive, and the fact that it's failing hardware meant it needed to deposit the engram soon or it would be lost.
Unfortunately there was no cloned body of Padme Amidala to put the engram into. However there was a droid with the mind wiped that would serve as an acceptable host given the dire circumstances, and thus Padme Amidala suddenly found herself alive again in the form of a droid over a decade after her past memory. Faced with the limitations of her new droid based existence, in forms of it's physical limitations, the limitations of how droids are seen and treated by the galaxy at large, and the default programming that was still in the droid, which merged with her engram and was now limiting her as much as any other droid, does Padme have any hope of finding her children, let alone playing a role in the war to destroy the empire that had perverted her beloved republic?
