Serena had never been small, most of her life she was chubby. In high school, she had crossed the threshold from chubby to fat, and in college... She had gotten huge. It was never intentional, though sometimes Serena just could not care. Sometimes she'd just accept her weight to be a normal part of her life, sometimes she'd struggle against it but that almost certainly had not happened recently. She had been brutally busy in college and into her professional career, having condensed both a Bachelors's and Master's degree into four years, and working like a mad woman to apply to any entry-level position she could find that had anything to do with Logistics Management.
This time investment would pay dividends, and by the end of her last semester, she had five offers to choose from and was ready to immediately pivot into professional life. Four of her offers were decent entry-level positions the fifth offer was a quick step up into management that would jumpstart her career. A management position in food distribution that was looking for younger applicants to also take part in a "designer city" project, by Agritech.
One thing that Agritech would not shut up about during the interview process was Serena's weight. She was several times asked if she was "able to do the work," which was unnecessary given that the work would be sitting at a desk for the most part. Agritech also wanted health data on all their citizens and sometime during the process and interviewer would let slip the fact that she was the heaviest person to apply for any job in The Big City, weighing in at 478 pounds at the time. Though a bit unprofessional the interview process otherwise went swimmingly and Serena nailed it, snagging the job.
Now that she could settle into a normal routine in The Big City Serena would focus on her next big goal in life, which was....
