The captain doesn't hear or notice Zack and he places his bag on top of the shelf with Zack clinging onto it. The captain closes the cover and Zack is now trapped in complete darkness. Zack now surrounded in total darkness, he can only make out the outline of the bag he’s holding and the shelve around him. His breathing is shallow and his heart is racing as he feels the plane vibrate around him with every dip and turn they make. His clothing sticks to his skin as the air gets more humid with every passing second in the darkness. He feels fear as he realizes he has been overlooked, the sound of the Captain’s conversations completely muted.
He noticed a light in the distance, coming from a small gap of the overhang, and he made his way towards it to look where he was. As he approached, Zack realized he was directly above the captain's head from his position. He could squeeze himself through the gap and escape his dark prison, but that would mean falling down from a high place.
