Chapter #6

Alex a 22 year old guy dating a giantess

    by: Kilbil Author IconMail Icon
Ah Paris: the city of love. So much has been said about you, that it feels pointless to try to say anything more. But even now, there's always something new going on in your winding alleys, something that added to the zest of life.

Everything about you in a sight to behold. From you majestic Eiffel Tower to the Sacre-Couer, no place can compare. Not even the sight of massive, gaping footprint-shaped craters littering the city streets could dull your beauty.

For the third time that afternoon, Alex looked down at his prose and felt nothing but bile boiling in his stomach. The trashbin besides him, already overflowing with crumbled pieces of yellow paper, was already starting to look more tempting by the second. Eventually, the young man sighed and tore off the page from his notebook, motioning his arm towards the general direction of the trash before instead electing to hold the paper in front of him. He had already made it this far; it felt like it would be a waste to throw away his progress after so many false starts.

Alex looked down once more upon the yellowed paper in his hand, prose scribbled down haphazardly in black ballpoint ink. Then he looked back at the sight of Paris' busy streets from the fourth-floor window of a fancy pastry-themed restaurant, taking the sight of the bustling city as everyday folks navigated around numerous footprint-shaped potholes in the otherwise-seamless asphalt, along with the originators of said potholes doing the same for the swarms of people down below. Not for the first time, Alex couldn't help but muse on how the city really should have invested in more giant-friendly architecture by now. It was possible that would eaten up the budget too much to be feasible, but the cost in damages had to outweigh even those considerations, right? On the other hand, Alex had a sneaking suspicion that most giants would have been outraged if they couldn't have a permanent impression of their presence at all times.

Honestly, he wasn't too sure how he had gotten here. One day, he had decided to take a chance and ask the giant woman that had almost crushed his house one day if she wanted to go out for a drink, and now here he was, in Paris, waiting for his date to arrive as he scribbled away nonsense on his black-fiber bound notepad. He hadn't even gotten her name at the time - the most he'd known about her was that she had long black hair that flowed like silk wherever she went, and that he really, really wanted to know what it would be like to ride on top of her head. Yet somehow, they'd managed to hit it off, and now he and Jana Walters had become an item.

He hoped she liked the restaurant - the food was at most acceptable fare for its exorbitant price, but they were one of the few places around that provides considerable portions for giants and giantess her size. Most of the time, it seemed like giants were just left to forage for food out in the wilderness, or at least rely on whatever excess produce charities could provide. Or maybe they were getting their food from whatever work giants did, and he was being presumptuous. Alex didn't know, honestly - Janna never really talked much about what being a giantess was like, and he was really about keeping track of the news even. Getting blindsided by stuff everyone apparently already knew but him had been the normal state of affairs for as long as he could remember.

Alex once more looked out the window, foot incessantly tapping on the cold marble floor. He could always get stood up. Frankly, he didn't understand why that hadn't already happened. Like, he's a shrimp compared to her. A germ, even. There had to be plenty of better catches that him out there that she could get, ones that didn't have to climb onto her shoulder in order to get anywhere quickly.

Alex sighed to himself once more, turning his attention back towards his notepad. If there was any truth to his worries, it would have happened long before today, or at least he hoped so. Maybe she was just settling for him because there weren't any better options. He always figured that giants and giantess were about equal in terms of frequency, but what if that wasn't the case at all? What if there were far more giantesses than there were giants, and she was just settling for the only options she had?

Wait, no, he remembered now! While he was getting settled in his hotel, some random TV program had said something about how on average, ever since giants started popping up several years ago, the gender ratio had actually been consistently one-to-one, even though the occurrence of growth spurts was otherwise completely random.
Then they had gone on about how this had started debates in whether a higher power was behind all of it, but Alex had stopped paying attention by then in favor of calling the management about the coffee machine not working.

(Now that he thought about it, he noticed that French TV tended to not have a whole lot going on. Most of the time, everything was turned on to the same few state-owned channels, so variety pieces about mundane topics were a frequent occurrence. He never would have figured out the history of the Camping phenomenon in France if it weren't for that.)

A-anyway, he was getting off-track. Right now, he didn't have much time left before his date was supposed to arrive. 3:00 PM, by the dot - that's what they had agreed on, and right not, looking at the overhead clock, the minute hand was just one notch away from reaching 12. Alex had no idea how he would feel if Janna ended up running late. On the one hand, her size meant that she should be able to get everywhere a lot quicker, but on the other hand, most giants had the good sense to be careful around buildings, or at least as much as they could manage, and that had to take a lot of time.

Alex was suddenly jolted out of his thoughts. He swore that he felt the chair vibrate for a second there. And was it him, or did the glass of water that he ordered ripple a bit? Was he hallucinating, or was his date actually arriving?

Alex swiftly got his answer as he felt another jolt, this time enough to move the glass a bit. Ah. There she was. The woman that had decided that a shrimp like him was worth her time. The very same one that had changed his life and made him the man he was. As the shock became stronger and stronger in magnitude, Alex only had to look out of the window once more to see...
