This choice: Assess the current damage to his neighbors' houses  •  Go Back...
Chapter #5

Assess the current damage to his neighbors'...

Jamie shook his head in resignation and sighed. Now all he could do was assess the damage his younger brother had caused in the neighborhood.
Because now a house-sized foot has encroached on most of the back garden and the neighbor's as well. Thus, they could surely say goodbye to the fence. The pair of the said foot, now as Jamie saw it, was in front of the other neighbor's house. A good part of the road was probably crushed under Adam's feet. If not a single house or garage collapsed like last time, they got away with it quite cheaply. Although the neighbor lady's flower garden and fish pond were completely destroyed. These have only recently been tidied up since the last visit.
While Jamie looked at the destruction and hoped that everyone had insurance against giants, he saw Adam scratching the ground nervously with his toes. He looked up at his younger brother, who was wringing his fingers in front of him and watching him with wide eyes as he walked by his feet and looked around.
"I'm sorry Jamie! It really was an accident. It was just me...oh...I was walking around...and I thought about my favorite big brother and before I knew it I was already here. Hahahah." Adam forced a laugh.
Adam never really knew how to lie. Jamie didn't believe a word he said. Although it is true that he often forgets how far he is allowed to go, but to the center of the suburbs? He was sure he had come here on purpose.
In general, there could be three reasons why the 13-year-old boy visits his older brother without permission: he is bored, excited or if he wants to complain.
"While you're here, is there anything you want to say?" Jamie asks. There's nothing left to do, he has to fix Adam's problem before the damage gets worse.
"I miss you!" The boy said as he crouched down to be as close to Jamie as possible. Jamie saw Adam's bottom hit the chimney of the house next door and knock it over. Although the boy did not notice this.
"Since we can't be with you because I've grown too big" - here he pointed to a quotation mark with his fingers - "I have to be the oldest brother. I don't like this role! Why can't we stay together?"
Jamie had already explained this to his brothers many times. He doesn't know what else to say. Although he guesses that Adam would understand if he wanted to, he just doesn't want to.
"The twins are still small. When I was as big as they are now, there was nothing wrong. So if the problem is only with me, I promise that I will be more careful from now on. There won't be another small accident like last time."
That little accident when they were playing tag and Adam accidentally tripped and fell on his stomach and destroyed an entire street. However, he was younger and shorter then than he is now. Adam can be very careless and clumsy sometimes. And since he is growing so fast, the authorities thought it best that he and the twins stay away. Jamie did not deny that there was truth in the matter, as Adam's clothes apparently covered a smaller part of the boy than when he had last seen him. Especially when puberty starts!
But Adam is his younger brother. And as stubborn as he is, if he doesn't get what he wants, he's willing to stay here all day. Then the twins will surely show up and even though they are much smaller than Adam, they are more active and easily get each other into mischief.

You have the following choices:

1. Jamie asks Adam to go somewhere together.

*Noteb*
2. It's late, the twins have arrived.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
