Animals have always had interesting interactions with humans. Living in a world where building sized rats can be a completely normal occurrence would be even more interesting. Not to mention the number of times teenage girls the world over have wished for giant fluffy cats to serve as their mattresses, or the numerous instances that people have dreamed of monolithic birds taking on armies (this is a thing, don't worry)
