Jeffrey decided that he wanted to be Free, and stay on the farm. The Wolfes were basically his family, after all.
The next day, he went up to Robert, who was, as usual, under the tree, with John nearby.
"Master Robert," he said.
Robert looked up at him. "Made up your mind, Jeffrey?"
"I'd like to be free, and stay here," said Jeffrey. "You're my family."
Robert chuckled. "I'll set things up, and in addition to seeing that you're decreed Protected, that you're also Adopted, into the family."
"Thank you, Master," said Jeffrey.
"No, it's just Robert," said Robert.
"Yes, Robert."
"Good," said Robert, as he got out his cellphone. "Here's your info." He tapped a few times. "Permission to be Declared Free. Permission to be Declared Protected. Permission to be Adopted into Wolfe Family." He smiled. "It will take a few months for things to be Official, but I've always been a little relaxed with certain things anyways - I find that not being so Controlling helps to improve things between me and those I own, unless Control is needed."
"Thank you, Robert," Jeffrey said, tears running down is face. "This is good to hear."
"As far as I'm concerned, you're my brother," said Robert. "Just do what you usually do, and I'll see about smoothing things out."
"Yes, Robert," said Jeffrey. He started to walk away.
