One morning on the farm, a young buck named Argyle approached Robert as he lay in the shade of his favorite tree. "Master Robert, sir?" He said politely.
Robert opened his eyes and looked up at him. He had known Argyle since the boy's birth and had a hand in raising him, treating him no differently than the other livestock. But other than that, he didn't really know him all that well. It was hard to keep track of hundreds of different humans and their individual personalities.
"Is something wrong, son?"
"Nothing is wrong, sir. I just wanted to ask you something. Well, actually, I have something of a proposal for you."
Robert chuckled "Oh, really? And what is this proposal of yours?" Argyle didn't waste time mincing words and flat out stated "I wish to leave the farm and be wild, maybe start my own herd."
Robert was not surprised to hear this. He knew there would always be some humans in captivity that wanted to be free. "But Argyle, you're a prime grade breeder. I haven't even had a chance to get any offspring from you. Plus, you're worth quite a pretty penny on the market. Why would I agree to just let you go?"
"Because I know you are a wolf of your word." Said Argyle "So my proposal is this: the two of us have a sort of contest against each other, fair and square. If I win, I get to leave, no questions asked. You agree to never come after me. "
"And if you lose?"
"Then I'll be your family's next big meal without a fuss. How often do you get to chow down on prime grade meat? Provided I get to say goodbye to my friends and sire at least one offspring first."
Robert thought it over. Surely as a werewolf, he could easily best whatever challenge Argyle had in mind. He couldn't remember the last time he'd had prime human, and his mouth watered at the thought. "Alright. You're in on."
They both shook hands, sealing the deal. "What exactly did you have in mind?" Robert asked.
