At first glance, Charybdis is a dead planet. It's the only planet in it's system, possesses no moons, and it is too far away from it's parent neutron star, it's surface is far too cold to possibly harbor life. The massive ocean that dominates it's surface remains permanently frozen. But beneath the kilometers deep layer of ice, lies an aquatic world teeming with life. Among the many wondrous and odd seafaring creatures that reside there, the Charybians are undoubtedly the most advanced.
Their upper bodies somewhat resemble those of humans, they have 3 webbed fingers on each hand, their mouths are filled with sharp shark like teeth, one or several fins adorn the top of their head and they lack hair of any sort. Their lower bodies resemble that of fish, a muscular and powerful appendage covered in fins, it allows them to move and maneuver quickly in their watery home. Their skin is covered in fine scales whose colors can vary wildly, but some shade of blue seems to be most common. Females lack breasts and are usually smaller and have lighter coloration than the males.
Their aquatic environment makes it impossible for them to develop fire or metallurgy, but they have found another way to craft reliable tools. They grow a special type of coral which they mold into a desired shape as it grows. Once the coral dies, it's body calcifies and reaches a hardness comparable to iron, allowing the Charybians to craft basic tools, weapons and even housing with it.
They live in small hunter-gatherer tribes that occasionally trade with each other. Their culture and religion are based around the reverence of nature, of all the plants and animals in it and especially of the corals they mold into tools.
You are a...
Charybian - You lead a simple life, like everyone else in your tribe you have a specific job to attend to. You know of nothing beyond the icy barrier above.
Human - Charybdis lies in human controlled territory, and for one reason or another you make landing on the planet, unaware of the life laying just beneath the icy surface.
