Ash's head hung low as he walked back to Pallet Town. He had just lost the Pokemon League again on live television, and it really hit his spirits. All of that fire died out after loss after loss.
He was so upset he left Pikachu and the rest of his pokemon at Professor Oak's lab. He just needed some time alone.
Ash made it home and entered the house quietly. He didn't want to talk to anyone. But unfortunately, his mother heard his footsteps.
"Ash, honey, is that you?" Delia called out from the kitchen, she stepped out into the main hall and smiled, "Welcome home! How did your league match go? Is my little man a pokemon champion yet?"
Her optimism came off as ironic since he had just lost on live television. Did she not see him? She didn't even watch? Well, at least that's one less person who saw.
Delia noticed his sullen look and frowned, "What's wrong sweety?"
"It's nothing Mom," Ash sighed, "But I didn't win."
That was saying it lightly, actually, he got curb stomped.
"Oh," Delia said.
"I'm going to my room." Ash turned to walk upstairs.
"Actually," Delia called out, "You have a visitor-"
Ash wasn't paying attention to her and just dashed up to his room so he could be alone for a while. But when he entered his room, his eyes bolted wide at who he saw.
