This choice: A rumble starts to reach up from Marco’s throat  •  Go Back...
Chapter #6

A Tumultuous Escape

by: Michael Clayton Author IconMail Icon
Derek's fingers trembled as he clung to Marco's uvula, his strength waning rapidly. The rhythmic contractions of the throat were relentless, a constant reminder of how close he was to being swallowed. The humid air was thick with the smell of soda and saliva, making it difficult to breathe. Every swallow was a perilous ride, the uvula swinging violently, threatening to throw him into the dark abyss below.

Above, the boys continued their party, completely unaware of the tiny drama unfolding in Marco's mouth. Tyson and Adric were roughhousing, their thunderous laughter echoing through the room, while James was grabbing snacks from the table. Suddenly, Marco paused, feeling a strange tickle at the back of his throat.

"Hey, watch this!" Marco announced with a grin, feeling the need to impress his friends. He took a deep breath, his chest expanding like a mountain range, and forced out a massive burp. The sound was deafening, a reverberating roar that seemed to shake the very air.

The force of the burp was like a hurricane for Derek. The sudden explosion of air sent him hurtling out of Marco's mouth, tumbling through the air at a dizzying speed. The world spun around him, a blur of colors and shapes, and he was completely disoriented.

Derek's body was buffeted by the force of the burp, the wind tearing at his tiny form. His ears rang from the sheer volume of the sound, and his skin felt the rush of the warm, soda-scented air. He screamed, though his voice was lost in the cacophony of the boys' laughter.

As he was flung across the room, Derek's senses were overwhelmed. The air was a whirlwind of sensations—the smell of snacks and soda, the sound of the boys' boisterous play, and the feel of the wind rushing past him. His vision blurred, and he had no control over his trajectory, no way to slow his fall.

The room seemed enormous, a vast expanse of carpet and furniture, and Derek felt like a speck of dust caught in a storm. He could see the carpet fibers below, each one as tall as a tree, and the coffee table looming in the distance like a massive monolith. The sheer scale of everything was dizzying.

Time seemed to slow as Derek flew through the air, his mind racing. He had no idea where he would land or how he would survive this latest ordeal. His heart pounded in his chest, a rapid, terrified rhythm, and he struggled to regain some sense of orientation.

Below, the boys continued their antics, completely oblivious to Derek's plight. Adric and Tyson were still wrestling on the floor, their massive bodies creating tremors that Derek could feel even as he flew. James was munching on snacks, and Marco was laughing, clearly pleased with his impressive burp.

Derek's thoughts raced as he tumbled through the air. He needed to find a way to land safely, to avoid being crushed or lost in the vast expanse of the room. His tiny body was at the mercy of the elements, and he had to rely on his wits and luck to survive.

The carpet fibers below seemed to rush up to meet him, and Derek braced himself for impact. He hoped the soft surface would cushion his fall, but he knew he had to be ready for anything. His muscles tensed, and he took a deep breath, preparing for whatever might come next.

But before he could even attempt to land, a powerful updraft caught him, sending him soaring higher into the air. The room spun wildly around him, and Derek felt a new surge of fear. He had no control, no way to predict where he would end up.

As he was flung through the air, Derek caught glimpses of the world below—Adric's massive foot landing near the coffee table, Tyson grabbing a pillow, James reaching for a snack. Each sight was a reminder of how small and vulnerable he was, how easily he could be lost or overlooked.

Derek's flight seemed to last forever, the air rushing past him, the world a blur. He had no idea where he would land, no way to prepare for what was to come. All he could do was hope and pray that he would find a way to survive, that he would somehow escape this tiny nightmare.

As he tumbled through the air, Derek felt a strange mixture of fear and excitement. He was living his childhood dream of seeing the world from a tiny perspective, but the reality was far more dangerous than he had ever imagined. Each moment was a test of his ingenuity and endurance, a struggle to stay alive.

The room seemed to stretch out endlessly below him, and Derek felt a sense of vertigo. He had no idea how long he had been flying or where he would end up. All he knew was that he had to keep fighting, to stay alert and ready for whatever might come next.

Finally, Derek's trajectory began to change, and he felt himself descending. The carpet fibers below grew closer, and he could see the vast expanse of the living room spread out beneath him. He had no idea where he would land, but he knew he had to be ready for anything.

As he hurtled towards the ground, Derek took a deep breath and braced himself. The wind whipped past him, the sounds of the boys' laughter and play echoing in his ears. He was a tiny speck in a vast world, and he had no idea what would happen next.

But whatever came, he was determined to face it with courage and determination. He had survived this far, and he was not about to give up now. As he flew through the air, Derek's mind raced with possibilities, each one a potential path to survival and escape.

And so, with his heart pounding and his senses on high alert, Derek flew through the air, unsure of where he would land, but ready to face whatever came next.
