Samantha looked over towards the pile of book returns with a sigh. As much as she enjoyed being a librarian, it certainly had its fair share of annoying menial tasks. Fortifying herself for a good hour of book sorting and consulting the library's criminally outdated database still running on windows vista, she walked over and started piling the books onto a cart to bring them towards her desk.
Suddenly she was brought out of her stupor by an interesting looking book- it wasn't super flashy, not covered in guided shiny corners or anything, just a uniquely interesting texture and title, it looked unlike most books in the library, it was bound in actual leather, and had the words, "World Writer" Written in sparkling green tinted lettering. She decided that this was the first book she'd sort as it looked rather interesting and she'd never seen it before.
As she set it down and opened it up to find its ISBN, but to her surprise all she was met with was a page containing the title of the book again, the cover page, which had an additional sentence below the title reading: "For those dreamers who might make the world anew." curious, she flipped that page and was very confused,

The page went on in great detail, laying out all the details of the ISBN system, which was exceptionally odd as she had just been looking for this book's ISBN. "Huh, weird, maybe its just a really weirdly organized encyclopedia?", she flipped the page only to be met with:

"What the fuck?" she whispered to herself in confusion, flipping back a page she was even more shocked to now read an entirely different set of words,

Rubbing her eyes in shock she took a moment to compose herself, "Okay think rationally Samantha, you just picked up a strange book with no ISBN, and it seems to be able to read your mind. Okay that's fine I guess. Am I dreaming this?" she pinched her self and it definitely hurt quite a bit. "Okay Occam's Razor, I'm either having an elaborate prank pulled on me by someone who can change pages of a book they're not next to and can also read minds, or the book is magic and can read my mind."
Choosing to believe the book is somehow actually magical, she focused probably a bit harder than she really needed to on the idea of the book itself and flipped the page.
Word Writer is a book that appeared mysteriously in the Sheffield local library at 3:21PM on saturday May 6th, It contains every conceivable peice of information in the universe and is editable by it's readers. A reader may find any entry by merely thinking of a topic, idea, or person and simply flipping the page.
Unlike the other pages, which went in depth on their topics, thats where this page ended, most of it remaining blank.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
