Chapter #9

Kicking back

    by: Tisch Author IconMail Icon
Jack was amazed at how quickly some of the girls got buzzed. There were more than a few beer cans thrown about the lawn and there was some staggering from a few people here and there. Not wanting to get into it with one of them, Jack made his way over to the beach chairs that were placed, and found an open one generally away from other people. He laid back and threw his hands behind his head, letting out a nice sigh. His relaxation didn't last long, though, five of the sorority gang came over and took chairs around him. One, he noticed, was Leslie.

"Hey, Jack," Leslie spoke first. From her tone of voice, Jack could tell that she had been drinking a little bit. "What, uh, what brought you here?". Jack laughed. "Not what, who. Mackenzie forced me into this". The girls around him laughed, and Leslie continued. "Oh, so you don't want to be here? Come on, loosen up, this is a good place to be". Jack shrugged. "It's not that I don't want to be here, but rather I have other stuff to be doing, you know?". Leslie nodded her head. "Yeah, that makes sense. Anyways, you ever fooled around with a girl?". Jack was shocked to hear her say that. How the hell had they got there from talking about nothing? "Uh, I mean, I did have a girlfriend in high school, but..." Leslie interrupted. "Well, this isn't high school, little man. College girls know how to treat a man right. Do you know how to treat a lady?". Jack was beginning to get a little uncomfortable. "I'd say yeah, but what are you talking about?". Leslie ignored the question and giggled. "Well, let me just say that I'd love to have someone like you. You're so cute like that, you're all short and stuff. We could have some real fun". Jack then stood up.

"You know what, I think I'll go grab something to drink," he said, excusing himself. The group of five also got up. "We can come with you," one of them said. Jack turned to them and politely declined. "That's all right, I'm pretty sure I can get it myself". The girls shrugged, then walked over to the house and went inside. With the exception of Leslie, she stayed outside, drink in hand, slightly stumbling about the vicinity of Jack. Getting away from the girls, Jack walked around in a circle until he got back to his seat. Once again, he kicked back, and once again, Leslie was back. Soon after, Mackenzie joined her, as did Taylor. Jack moaned and threw his head into his hands. "What's the matter with you, lighten up a little," Taylor joked. It sounded like she, too, had been drinking. Jack rolled his eyes. "Oh come on, have some fun, it's a party," Mackenzie backed, and she touched Jack on the shoulder. He looked at her, confused. "What are you doing?" he asked. Mackenzie smiled her usual bright smile. "I didn't bring you here for you to be miserable, why don't you do something?". Jack shrugged. "I'm glad you're thinking of my welfare, but I like to just relax". Leslie crept up to Jack's chair and kneeled down next to him. "I wouldn't mind relaxing with you," she giggled. Jack had had about enough.

"You know, girls, how about I come get you a little later and we can do something collectively then, sound good?" he offered. Each of the girls nodded. "All right, cool. I'll get you in like fifteen," Jack followed up. The girls nodded again, then left. Finally, he was left alone. But that alone time didn't last long either.

What was Jack's next disturbance?
