Jack's eyes widened as he opened his backpack and learned that he hadn't packed his laptop, but instead packed his shrink ray. He mentally facepalmed, insulting himself over making such a stupid mistake. Yeah, the shrink ray and the laptop were similar in shape, but his laptop was much larger and was a LAPTOP. Now without a laptop and having no notebooks on hand, Jack had his hands tied. The shrink ray in his backpack began tempting him more and more to use it, but it was only the first day of college, and this was his first class. The person to his right noticed that Jack was shuffling in his seat and asked if he was okay.
"Yeah, I'm good. Sorry for being a distraction," Jack apologized. The girl shrugged her shoulders, then went back to her laptop, taking notes. Jack quietly breathed a sigh of relief. He tried to listen into the professor's syllabus lecture, but was tuning in and out. The shrink ray was being a far greater distraction than Jack had wanted. After a few more minutes of desperately resisting the urge to use it, Jack ultimately fell victim to its temptations and subtly pulled it out of his bag.
Hiding it in his lap, Jack slowly pulled it up and turned it around to face him. Before activating it, though, Jack searched around the room, trying to figure out what he was going to do. There were the girls to either side of him he could mess with or get their attention. There were the two frat boys sitting across from him, though Jack wasn't the kind of guy to interact with any kind of Greek life. More of a stretch was the professor, who hadn't stopped rambling about the syllabus since he began a good ten minutes ago. Finally, there was the option to either just stay in his seat, get on the table, or simply explore around the room.
