It happened fast. Billy blinked and…there wasn’t any Drew. Billy had felt Drew’s hand rip away from him and then nothing. Billy just stared straight ahead and heard the rattling sound. Looking down at the desk Billy saw the remote. It had been shaking after being dropped and had come to rest on the edge of the desk and was about to fall when Billy instinctively stepped forward and grabbed it.
Billy stepped back and bumped into Kelly who was passing between the seat to get to the door. “Oh, s-sorry Billy,” she said and maneuvered past him. She actually turned towards him in a kind of half spin and for a second Billy thought he saw a look. But it was over and Kelly was soon out the door. Billy held onto the remote while he picked up his bag. He was just about to walk away when….
BILLY JUMPED UP INTO THE AIR KNOCKING INTO TWO DESKS.
Drew:
Drew had felt pretty cocky. He was giving Billy a way out. The guy just didn’t understand that Drew was trying to do the right thing. Hell he’d even pay Billy if Billy would just be reasonable. Drew didn’t want to embarrass Billy with Kelly. He liked Kelly…she was cute. He could understand Billy crushing on her. But this was something Drew knew he had to do.
“I’ll make sure I’m on mute and Kelly hears nothing about this.” That was all Drew had said. Then the world had gone crazy. Drew heard a crash somewhere above him and in a wave of dizziness he fell over onto his ass. Blinking Drew felt his once perfectly fitted cloths hang off of him. He had wiggled his toes realizing that he had lost his shoes when he had fallen backwards. Looking up Drew felt he had somehow gone outside because there were tall buildings everywhere but then, a tall skyscraper type structure moved and Drew screamed.
Drew rolled over and scrambled tripping inside the baggy and sagging cloths. BOOM! Displaced hair whipped around Drew and he fell forward. Turned around Drew’s eye went wide as a massive…sneaker; a sneaker the size of a truck landed just where he had been and then rose back up into the air and fell away. Drew saw his shoes, the ones that he had fallen out of… they were flat, completely pancaked. Drew felt terror as he realized that could have been him. Looking around Drew realized that he wasn’t outside. The light wasn’t the sun. The buildings…they weren’t buildings, they were chairs and tables. Giant chairs and tables. Drew realized he had shrunk.
Drew spun around falling over inside his now oversized cloths. He looked up and saw the no gigantic Billy looking around. “BILLY!” Drew screamed. No sooner had he said anything then there was another BOOM. The giant Billy stumbled and the ground shook. Drew saw another giant, this one with long red hair…KELLY! Drew was about to scream for her but stopped so he cold try and run. In a moment Kelly had crossed the vast distance and was over him…Drew saw her turn around…her skirt flaring out over him. Drew didn’t stop to look up because he knew on some lizard brain level that he was in danger. Grabbing at his pants pulling them up Drew ran at the full speed his athletic body allowed him for cover under one of the desks. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM! Wind and dust were kicked up and Drew tripped rolling forward. He got to his knees and saw the massive feet…Kelly’s feet, hit the ground and they trampled by. The girl’s flats were like mid-sized motorboats, like the one Drew’s dad had. Drew looked up Kelly’s now impossibly long legs as he disappeared among the many, now building sized desks. It was so fast. How could something so big move that fast? Drew knew; Kelly had never seen him there. She could have killed him and never realized just by walking.
Drew spun back around and saw Billy. Billy wasn’t looking down though. Drew grabbed up his pants again and ran towards Billy screaming as loud as he could. Then Billy seemed to hear him and looked down.
Billy:
His eyes were wide. At his feet, screaming at him, DREW! Billy backed up which in only two steps took him far away from the now tiny screaming man. Billy wasn’t sure but he thought he could hear a squeaky voice. Panicking Billy grabbed his bag and ran from the classroom. Billy didn’t think about anything as more students were coming into the room slowing him down as he ran into the halls.
