As Alexander pondered what to do, a conversation between two nearby sailors catched his ear:
"So, are you going to the match before our shore leave is over?" A young looking Passimian asked his fellow shipmate.
"Of course I'll go! The Red Cyclone is fighting today! I never miss any of his matches." The fellow sailor Gligar responded.
Alexander was intrigued, a match? Could it be some kind of fighting tournament of some kind? The riolu decided to ask these pokemon for more information.
"Hello gentleman, i was passing by and i couldn't help to hear what you were talking. What is this match you are talking about?" Alexander asked gently.
"You really don't know about the Ring Royale? Have you been living under a rock? Or maybe you are one of those pompous no-" The Passimian said in a rude tone, but it was quickly interrupted by a slap from his shipmate.
"Idiot, don't you see he is not from around here? Have some manners coconut brain!" He reprimanded his friend, before turning his attention to the riolu. "Sorry about that, what my mate over here mentioned is the thing we were chatting about. Here, this might clear your doubts." The Gligar rummaged through his bag until finding a piece of paper which proceeded to give to Alex. The riolu unfolded it to see an advertisement which displayed two finely made drawings of an Incineroar and a Hawlucha with a "VS" in the middle of them.
The paper said: "Match of the year!! Tonight two legends of the ring fight for the title of champion in the 14th edition of Ring Royale! Come watch The Red Cyclone and La Furia Alada compete for the $70.000 cash prize and the glory of being the king of the ring. Who will win in this legendary rivalry? Who will take all the Poké home? Find out tonight at Ring Royale!!! Entrances sold for a 100 Poké per pokemon. Placed on the West Warehouse, Capital of Finas. The Organization will not be held accountable for any lesion caused by flying forniture, misfired moves or food related poisoning."
"Wow, this sounds pretty neat! I didn't know Finas had a fighting tournament." Alexander said as he returned the paper to the Gligar.
"Well it's not exactly regulated by the guild or any of the houses. Is more of an underground thing hold by the merchants and workers union. Is pretty popular over here on the docks and it help us be entertained after long sails." He explained.
"Yeah and tonight is more popular than ever! Cyclone and Furia are in the finals and they will finally end their rivalry tonight!" The Passimian added.
"I suppose those two have history right?" Alex questioned.
"Yeah! They been rivals since their fight in the 6th edition. The Cyclone destroys the competition with his fiery strength, while La Furia out speeds his opponents and strikes powerful blows from above! They have been eliminating each other in previous tournaments but this time they both reached the finals! Whoever wins tonight will come out as the ultimate champion and will be finally come out top!." The Passimian explained. "It's obvious La Furia is going to win but-"
"Naaaaahhhh, The Cyclone will beat his ass and show him who's boss!" The Gligar interrupted.
"That's not going to happen! La Furia will go all out tonight and destroy his fiery ass!"
"Yeah suuureeeee, like if that helped in his last three losed matches in a row."
"That does not matter because-"
As the two sailors argued for their favourites, Alexander slowly retreated, not wanting take part on the ordeal. But this conversation left him wondering, maybe it would be a good idea to watch the tournament. It would certainly be fun to watch two strong warriors fight with their all in such a high stakes night. And maybe he could... test his powers in there.
It was appealing, but there was so many other things to do here in Finas and so little time before he would have to return home. Maybe it would be for the best to continue searching for something else.
