Stop Playing

    by: Dread Author IconMail Icon
"Yeah, I think you're right man. We better go to someone", Steve relents as he notices they are getting smaller.

They walk around the gazebo table and bench legs to make it to the end of the cement patch. Surrounding the gazebo is a field of tall grass that goes up to the men's waists. They look in the direction of a nearby playground where they notice a few kids running around the slide, using the swings, and sandbox. Beyond them were a few parents seated together on some benches, a couple of women on another, and just one woman at one bench.

"We just have to get past those kids and to the parents, they will help us, and we'll call it a workout", Cam tries to lighten the mood as they trudge through the grass.

"Man, I'm not working out for a week after this", Steve retorts as he is still recovering from the run from earlier and now this.

As the men walk through the grass, they feel very uncomfortable. They watch as flies and bees are now the size of birds to them now. They feel uneasy about knowing that bugs the size of rodents are lurking in the grass. Steve even jumps in fear when he swears that he felt something crawl over his foot. Occasionally the men pass flowering weeds that are nearly the same size as them.

The men are getting closer, and more people seem to be arriving at the park. By now there are more parents at the benches and more kids scattered at the different parts of the playground. As they watch the kids playing, they know they are much smaller than them but still can't process that as they feel like they should see or hear them. Getting in the middle of the playground area causes them to realize how wrong that is. A couple of boys passing by looked like they were as tall as five-story buildings. Not wanting to be found by kids, Cam and Steve ducked under the grass as they chased each other, and their sneakers crushed grass and made enough of a rumble for the men to actually feel the ground quake a little.

When the coast was clear, the men emerged from the grass. "Damn, this is crazy! We have to watch out if we keep getting smaller" Steve says while spinning around. "Look!"

Cam looks to where Steve is pointing, expecting another giant to be running their way. He does see a giant, but they are still in the grass a few hundred yards away. It looked like a little girl, a big little girl. She couldn't have been older that five if that. She wore a white shirt with pink trim on the collar and arm cuffs, and blue jean capris. Her brown hair was tied in ponytails as she played with a portable dollhouse and some dolls.

Meanwhile the men continued to get smaller. They wanted to get help from parents but started to realize they could risk getting too small by the time they reach them or face the danger of accidentally getting smooshed in the grass.

They decide to...
