Chapter #6

Helen's Confession

by: Brett Gonta Author IconMail Icon
         You were taken aback. "Huh?"

"Well, I assume that, as a sorcerer, you were going to try and capture me, make me into the genie of the lamp. So, I ask again: will you use it on me?"

"Wait... you want to be turned into a genie?" You ask, amazed at her incredulous behavior.

Helen nods. "Well... to be honest, I suppose that I don't want to be a genie specifically. But, I'm willing to become one... for you."

You tilt your head and cock an eyebrow, confused and curious. "What do you mean exactly?"

Helen sighed. "Anon... do you see me often in the village?" At your frown, Helen crossed her arms, looking uncertain as she looked down. "No, and do you know why? Because the villagers don't accept me there. So many of them see me as a barbaric mongrel, a mad dog who could, at any moment, go crazy and attack them all."

"But... you're one of the best mercenaries in the village! They even rewarded you with this house!"

"Yes! A crumbling, decaying home that I had to fix up myself, and the village only calls upon me when they need me to fight something!" Helen snarled, her rage feeling old and cruel. "They don't see me as an equal, Anon... they seem like an animal that they can sic on anyone or anything else!

"But you... you were different. You treated me kindly... or at least, respectfully. You didn't see me as some dumb brute but as an equal in what we do. And you never did it for any other reason other than because I happened to be with you. I... I know I never made it clear, but..." She started to blush again and looked to the side. "I do... have feelings for you, Anon... And I'd be more than happy to be your genie if it means I can be with you and return your kindness."

You blink, a bit taken aback by her claims--you never expected Helen to like you, let alone love you! And to hear that she was willing to become your genie, well... it was hard to believe. "I'm... surprised, to be honest. But... are you sure you want this? You would be a magical slave... and I might turn some other women in the village into genies as well? Do you honestly want this?"

Helen gave you an intense look in response. "Anon... I have no loyalty to anyone in this damn village. Everyone has treated me like a talking beast just because of my heritage--and my own parents didn't want me! If some of the other tramps in this place end up becoming genies alongside me, well... so be it! It's what they deserve!" Her features softened. "But, becoming your genie, being by your side and your beck and call... I don't care. I want to be with you, no matter how you'll take me..." Unfolding her arms, she reached out and gently grasped your shoulders, looking straight into your eyes. "And, in the end, becoming a genie wouldn't change anything... because I am already all yours to command."

You ponder her offer for a moment, wondering if you want to actually make her a genie now. On one hand, she's more than willing to be one for you, and might even be a good fit in case genies can resist or twist your wishes. On the other hand... now, it's starting to feel unkind to make her a genie--maybe you and her could try to hunt for genies together, instead? At least for the time being.

After a few moment, you reply to her...
