Rei, a new addition to the strawhats. Little is known about him. He was with the revolutionaries before joining the strawhats. During the timeskip, he had met Robin and trained with her. Rei was quite strong, although he lacked motivation. He was merely with the revolutionaries because they took him in when his hometown was burnt by a sichibukai. After meeting Robin, Rei had finally found the courage to live on, just like Robin herself did. He idolized her to the point of even worship at times. Robin had noticed this too. During Robin's stay, Rei had requested her again and again to let him join her and travel with her. However, Robin would always chuckle and ignore the request.
When Robin left the revolutionaries and went back to the sunny. Rei also set out on his journey on the grandline. He would move past most islands without any trouble. He was using a submarine he stole from the government. It was a brand new model, one that could travel as low as 5 kilometres below see level without any problem. The ship had a coating of its own. He sailed through the seas unnoticed by other pirates and the government.
On a fortunate day, he crossed paths with Robin again. Right after the strawhats left wano.
