road (the bandit camp was geographically nearby)

"Well let's get going to the road" Daphina said rushing away in excitement.

Valcora followed, her armor clanking and you softly swashing and swaying in her womb, curling and falling asleep as if you were in a wet warm hammock. Valcora smiled to herself as she felt you drift off deep within her glad you were so comfortable in your new home.

You awoke with a yawn inside Valcora and looked around using your womb sight. The party was trudging on a muddy road with Helena stalking forward in the lead followed by Daphina, Valcora and you, and Melvora bringing up the rear annoyed at the soggy mud sticking to her ornate clothing. A cold rain steadily soaked them, Helena seemingly indifferent to the climate or the mud as she seemed to march effortlessly on.

"Finally awake little man?" Valcora teased as if you were a drowsy child waking up late in the morning.

"Where are we?" You ask groggily stretching your arms and twisting your body, Valcora enjoying the sensation within her as you pushed against her walls.

"Almost to the ambush sight, you're timing is impeccable!" She says to you with her mind.

"That is convenient, I'm glad I'm inside of you instead of out there, it looks cold and miserable. Would you like me to warm your blood?" You ask feeling her discomfort and fatigue as she trudged with her heavy armor through the slog.

"You can do that?" She asked surprised.

You lay your tiny hands against the walls of her womb and work your magic reciting a cantrip of warmth and comfort before finishing with a stamina boosting chant. Valcora feels as if she just left, the miserable climate receding as she feels your magical warmth spread from her womb to the rest of her body.

"You're full of surprises Tiny One! Just make sure to save your mana for the upcoming fight, the other might need it!" She says unconcerned about any mere bandits posing a threat to her.

"Here! Everyone gather, this is where the baggage train was ambushed." Helena called ahead, examining the muddy ground. As the others stood she noted the various tracks and prints left in the soil and the state of the brush.

"Looks like they made short work of the baggage train, executed them on the spot looks like there was only a brief struggle...here's one survivor crawling away and another two running. It looks like they probably dragged the bodies to the river and disposed of them there...and took the horses and loot that way as well. Follow me as I track, and stay sharp I don't think they're far from here." Helena said lost in concentration. She was focused and serious about her work, noting various details to herself before moving on.

The party trekked off the road into the brush, the sound of a nearby river slowly becoming louder as they followed Helena's trail. Before long you were at a riverbank, the current strong and roaring past you. You used your womb sight and stared into the murky water, it seemed deep but too muddy to be sure.

"Looks like they disposed of the bodies here, just tossed them after dragging them here. Probably wanting more victims to pass by unaware, sick bastards. From the tracks we're definitely dealing with mostly humans, wolfkin, and what looks like a half orc....no Ogres." She says, going through the survivors descriptions in her mind. "I'd say about 8 in the raiding party could be more at their lair...the tracks continue along the river, likely at the Waterfall."

"I can't hear a waterfall" You say straining to hear with your remote senses worrying that you were losing your abilities right before the mission.

"Don't strain yourself before battle little fellow, she's got almost supernatural hearing." Valcora explained softly to you, fussing slightly over your exertion. For such a tough warrior she sure was concerned about me, you thought.

"I'm not trying to be overbearing little one, I guess its just my nature to protect others and I do worry about how fragile you feel even if you are inside of me" Valcora explained to you silently.

"How far? Is it finally time to blow these backwater losers to bits?" Melvora said impatiently, dying to unleash destruction and end her boredom.

"About half a mile, I suspect that's where they were heading. Let's move forward and I'll signal when its time for the Smash and Burn formation." Helena informed the others.

"She will make a bird call four times, I'll let you know when she does it, it is our standard signal for these types of searches." Valcora explained to you.

"Oh boy I can't wait to slice and dice! I've been dying to show our new friend what I can do!" Daphina said almost skipping behind Helena in excitement.

"I can't wait to show him what real magic looks like" Melvora boasted the eagerness in her voice twisted by the evil glint in her eye.

"Just let me handle the real warriors" Valcora boomed, eager for a worthy fight.

The party followed Helena until she stopped. You could hear the rushing of a mighty water fall ahead. She told the party to halt then gestured to Daphina. "We will scout ahead, you two stay low and on the signal charge in. We'll both be in position when you hear it."

"I don't see a camp!" Melvora said impatiently.

"I hear them the hideout is behind the waterfall, I'm guessing a cave from the echoes of the drunken idiot singing." Helena explained the only one able to hear anything. You were surprised she could hear anything beyond the overpowering roar of the waterfall.

They both crouched forward and snuck ahead quickly disappearing in the brush. A few minutes later you hear the chirping of a bird.

That's when.....
