It was not uncommon for Caitians entering Starfleet to gravitate toward the field of exolinguistics. Of all the species in the Alpha and Beta quadrants, Caitians as a species were perhaps the most gifted with languages.

You were thankful that in the week leading to the start of the Academy, you didn't have to endure any further "incidents." This was probably because everyone was so busy getting ready for the new year at the Academy.
