Chapter #4

Bite the Bullet

    by: PrivateValentine Author IconMail Icon
The two of you walk back through the gray woods in silence. There are no words as the trees change from monochrome back to their normal greens and browns, and you and your "brother" continue to simmer as you breach the treeline, back into the town proper.

It's two days! What's she getting so mad for over two days? Part of you digs your heels in.

Then again...it's not like I cleared it with her, or even warned her. Another part relents.

But still! Two days? She's just being crazy.

But then, I basically stole her body.

Before long, you find yourself on the Madisons' doorstep, and you sigh as you walk in.

"Oh, you did not just sigh," says Danielle, giving you a glare you swear could kill a small animal.

"Yes, Danielle, I did," you say, the words coming out as another sigh. "Look...I'm sorry, okay? I mean it this time."

"And why should I believe you?"

"Hey, I'm not gonna kiss your shoes or anything, but I'm serious," you reply. "I figured it'd be fun to be you for a while, and the chance was there, and I assumed you'd say no, so I just went for it."

"Damn right I'd have said no," Danielle says. "I didn't want to be a guy, not even for two days."

"I know, I know," you say. "Like I said. I'm sorry."

"Whatever. Damage is done now." Danielle turns her glare from you to some spot off in the corner of the room.

"...I'm not forgiven, am I?"

"You've graduated from 'never' to 'not until this is fixed,'" Danielle says plainly. "...And I want that body back in the same condition you got it in."

"Fair enough," you say. "Alright, well, this has all been very tiring, so I'm gonna get to bed...bro."

Danielle snickers. "Don't push your luck."

You shrug, and bound upstairs, into the bedroom you know to be Danielle's. Her nightclothes are thrown on the bed, a simple pajama top and bottom, so you waste little time changing into them. You're tempted, briefly, to examine yourself more closely during the process, but you get the strangest feeling Danielle would kill you, her body or otherwise, and refrain. The following morning...

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Shower

*Noteb*
2. Sleep in

*Noteb*
3. Make some plans with friends

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
