Chapter #6

The ritual completes

“Good luck, my chosen. You will be beyond my reach for awhile, but I’m certain you will find a way back,” with Mystra’s last word, time resumes, and my world is light and pain and motion.

I do not know if you’re ever been teleported, so let me explain. Imagine being ripped apart into such small pieces that the eye cannot see, and then flung hundreds, perhaps thousands of miles at close to the Speed of Magic, before being jammed back together in the right combination of pieces.

To put it in the politest way I can in your language, it’s very unpleasant. I spent the first few minutes of my time in your world throwing up, my hand on a wall, before I even had a chance to look at my surroundings. As I looked up, I realised that I should have paid more attention. I had appeared in the centre of what appeared to be a battle between mages. The ground was burnt in one area, while in another it was burning and in a third, the ground had cracked as if by earth magic.

I reached for the holy magic I had been granted from Mystra, and found I could still use the magic I had gained from her this morning, but could not pray to her for more magic. This wouldn’t be too much of a problem in this situation, as I had prepared combat magic for the altercation with the dark wizard, but it left me wanting for utility magic.

So I could fight if necessary. That was good, as both sides of the conflict were eyeing me uneasily, as they also eyed each other. Any of them could attack at any moment. One side had four combatants, while the other only had three. Joining the stronger side would be the better choice. The problem was that with magic, strength was harder to quantify. The “stronger side” could be the one with less combatants. I was running out of time to make a decision. Combat was about to resume.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Join the side with four combatants

*Noteb*
2. Join the side with three combatants

*Noteb*
3. Take neither side and try to escape

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
