I arrived at the city bank a few minutes later to find a number of the regular patrons visibly rattled and shaken. Fortunately, no one seemed to be hurt except for three of Sykes hired thugs. They were battered and tied up in a corner of the lobby.
"It looks like we missed the party again." Sighing, I said.
The detective nodded. "From what I got from the witnesses, the four came in showing all intentions of robbing the bank." Serious, he explained. "Only the PCG crashed their party and made quick work of them."
"You said there was four of them." Frowning, I noted.
"Sykes was with them but he took advantage of the kid's dramatic entrance to steal a painting that was hanging on the wall near the safe."
I grunted, seeing the clean spot where the painting had been hanging. "The robbery was a distraction and luring the kids in to save the day made it look like a foiled robbery."
"It looks that way." Calmly, the detective said. "Only what would a notorious gangster want with a painting of Nomad's park?"
"Good question." Softly, I replied.
Nomad's park was in the very center of the city; a place for all of its citizens to just sit back and relax for a while. The painting was not worth much but I had a suspicion that there was far more to it that anyone realized. "I better call in The Guard."
