Chapter #7Underworld's invasion by: eagleclaw   Danny driven through the automatic gate greeted the security at his post who greeted back with an amiable smile and continue driving. The security was a nice guy in his sixty, a former military that was recruited by Master.
He would always hold this amiable smile on his face while guarding his post. He had this kind Granpa image with his white hair, but his skills were real and every staff could vouch for that. He had guarded the Crittenden mansion gate from the very start and everyone was reassured by his guard.
As shown by Danny and the security guy, the staff of Crittenden Mansion was mostly kind and friendly, but responsible through their duty. Except for the staffs that especially served the Madam which were zealous dogs toward Madam, all other staff had good relations with each other. Danny himself had a romantic relationship with one of the maids.
Milady Vanessa herself was surrounded by many staff that loved her and want to wholeheartedly serve her, but the cruel Madam prevented that for an unknown reason. The madam often placed her own raised staff around Vanessa to make sure she was isolated from any form of kindness. It was cruel treatment as Milady couldn’t really felt warm in her own home.
Fortunately, there was Milady's private maid, Maria, a maid that closes to milady age. A loyal maid that was given to Milady since a child by Master. This was the only reason she hadn’t gotten rid by Madam as Master had protected her position. She was a hard-working girl that responsible for her duty. She had amazing work skills and stamina which many praised her for.
The great expertise of her own work made the life of milady more comfortable and the little age difference made them more like friends than master and servant.
It is a miracle for milady to have Maria or it would have been a disaster for her to be living in this mansion. I still remember when she was still new to her serving work though, she was a cute and naïve little girl at that time…
Danny looked at the rearview mirror where Vanessa was smiling sweetly while looking out of the window. She was in good mood since coming out of that creepy store. Danny was worried at first that Milady visited such a store, but the effect was mostly positive from the surface so his worries were reduced by a lot.
Danny shook his head while smiling slightly. He then continues driving toward the mansion's main entrance. There was quite a distance from the front gate to the front entrance of the Mansion, it needed a few minutes to transverse by car.
They finally arrived at the mansion's main entrance which was a long hall toward the front entrance. Usually, there would be some maid and butler that would greet Milady at the entrance along with Milady's private maid, Maria, but oddly enough there were none. This brought a frown to Danny's face.
A phenomenon like this almost never happened. The quiet environment also brought uneasiness to his mind.
There wasn’t any maid that works around the garden along the hallway either. There was eerie silence surrounding the entranceway. An uneasiness creeps into Danny as he observed these oddities.
“Milady, we have arrived, but it seemed no one come to greet us. I felt a bit concerned for this so, may I escort you until you are safely inside.” Danny told Vanessa about his worries and offered his guard from his seat.
“Well… is that okay with you? Mother could be watching from anywhere and punish you.” Vanessa showed a bit scared and worried expression. She knows that her mother was strict about anyone surrounding her and she didn’t want anyone close to her to suffer for her. Her mother had eyes and ears everywhere in this mansion so her worries were justified.
“It’s okay, this is my duty to keep you safe until you are inside the mansion.” Danny smiled with a wide smile as he assured. He then gets down from the car. The moment he went out he felt the surrounding atmosphere felt oppressive and chilly. There was strange pressure on his heart and a dangerous hunch that made his leg want to run at this moment.
Must make sure of Milady's safety first. Keep hold of yourself, Danny…
After encouraging himself. Danny went to open the door for Vanessa. She went down with well-educated grace, the result of her mother's demonic teaching. Not all thing that comes from that evil was a bad thing. Some were useful for Vanessa herself.
“Thank you, Danny, Now let us went inside the Mansion shall we.” Vanessa smiled with a lady-like smile as she bends her body a little to thanks Danny.
“The pleasure is mine.” Danny bowed to accept Vanessa's gesture. They proceed to walk toward the front door. Both of them felt an oppressive atmosphere through their walk toward the front door. Vanessa's legs were already a bit shaky and her heart filled with trepidation.
They continue to proceed until they near the door. They were then assaulted by a pungent smell mixed with a sweet metallic scent. Danny recognized the smell as the smell of blood.
Not good.
He blocked Vanessa's advance and put himself in front of her. He then proceeded to walk toward the door. He then peeped through the keyhole which let him see the situation inside. Once he saw the scenes inside, his gut immediately churns, his heartbeat scale faster, and he really wanted to puke at this moment.
This is no good. I must bring Milady away.
Then something seemed to move around in his field of vision. It was a fast-moving creature, but it didn’t seem human from the size of it. Then one creature stopped and stared at the keyhole. Danny saw the creature and it was a monstrous sight.
It was a big creature more than two meters tall. It had a hunchback torso with a back that was covered in some sort of scale until its forehead. Its head was slightly slanted downward with a row of oversized teeth overflowing from its mouth. It didn’t seem to possess eyes from afar. It let out a low growl until it saw Danny from the door opening.
Before Danny could get away from the door in time, the creature already blasted through the door and grip the head on Danny. The creature seemed more translucent from up close Danny observed. The creature growled in front of Danny’s face as its face came close to Danny’s.
“AAAARRRGGHHHH… NO DANNY!.” The hysterical scream of Vanessa reverberated to Danny’s ear followed by a worried scream that called out to his name. Vanessa was scared and had fallen down to her butt from fear.
The creature turned its supposed face to the source of the voice. Seeing Vanessa, the creature growl again. It increases the strength of its grip on Danny's head. Danny was trying to pry the grip off his face with his hand but to no avail.
The creature then stared at Danny with its blank face.
What will happen to Danny?
