Keel was not an especially large Roden, if a somewhat wide built and heavy set one. His chubby stomach was extremely soft, particularly to someone at your scale. If you'd weighed more it might have been difficult to move about, the surface malleable enough that it would have squished and shifted underfoot. As is though the only difficulty to the terrain was the gentle rise and fall as he breathed and the ocassional rumbling gurgle of his gut while he ate. Under other circumstances, you would have been glad to have such an overall pleasant task, especially compared to others a morale officer was expected to do.
These are not those circumstances. Keel watched you with a slightly smug expression while you worked, licking his lips between bites of his snack food, every act from the oversized mouse dripping with implication that you could be next. Every growl and gurgle from his stomach was a reminder of what might await you on the other side. In truth, you were not even supposed to be here. You had been reassigned, off of the Curiosity entirely, to a far off and isolated base infamous for being a terrible assignment. During the logging process for that reassignment, this Roden, Keel, a simple data entrist, had expressed sympathy for you, commiserated with you, and ultimately floated the idea he might know a way to get you out of it. You'd jumped at the opportunity. How foolish that felt now.
Keel was not an important Roden, but he was one who had been working with the logs for years and had picked up every trick in the book when it came to manipulating or gaming the system. Your records had not been deleted or changed. That would've been too obvious. No, they had simply become lost within the system's files. An unremarkable error that would likely go unnoticed so long that by the time it was discovered, if ever, one missing human's simple record's glitch would hardly register to anyone, let alone come across as strange. Your existence effectively wiped from the system and with the Curiosity already believing you were no longer assigned there, Keel had simply snatched you up and taken you for himself. His own personal pet and plaything to do with whatever he pleased with nobody to question or check on you.
It remained to be seen however, just how cruel a master he would truly turn out to be.
