Your childhood was... less than idea. Born in the slums of a federation controlled planet, at a very young age your parents were made into examples by an alien thug... leaving you all alone. You skulked in the shadows, surviving on whatever scraps you could scavenge, very quickly learning the benefits of avoiding the sight of the gigantic aliens, you got quite good at it too
Once you became older, you began offering your sneaking skills as a service. Listening to rival gang bosses right under their noses, snatching small but important packages, scouting out an area for guards, valuables and entry points... and making a pretty penny while doing it.
Eventually you left your crappy home planet to move onto bigger things. Turns out, a little guy can cause some very big trouble as long as he knows what he's doing. And boy oh boy did you make a killing as an Infiltrator, which is the big folk's word for a human who specializes in stealth, sabotage and espionage.
Right now you're onboard a ship called the Freelancer. The ship's captain, the crew calls him "The Colonel", is a grizzled vet who keeps his word, and funnily enough seems to have a certain bit of respect for you, something that most of your previous employers never graced you with.
The rest of the crew though... yeah you can definitely do without the lot of em. Saurians, loud, rude, brash, ruthless, got no sense of private space or personal property, takes a hardened man like the Colonel to even get them to act like something that from a distance and with squinting your eyes could be mistaken for an organized military unit. But credit where credit's due, the Colonel has been doing a damn fine job managing this mess.
