Like his predecessor, Steven fell on to the floor once he returned to his dimension. The resulting 'oof' attracted the attention of Andrea. She'd been nearby but hadn't seen him materialise.
"Oh, there you are. I was getting worried," she said as she helped him get up off the floor.
"Thanks, I've just had a rather bizarre experience," Steven told her as he got to his feet.
"That was quite an impressive magic trick you did," the older blonde woman said as she took a step backwards.
"Magic trick?" Steven asked in confusion, before thinking about it, "Yes, I suppose it did look like that."
"I don't know where you've been hiding but you better get back to work. It's been noticed by –"
"Steven!" Donna's voice called from several aisles away.
Steven and Andrea stood silently as she approached. Steven smiled awkwardly at his supervisor.
Donna did not look impressed. "I don't suppose you have an explanation for where you've been for the last ten minutes?"
Steven rubbed his throbbing posterior. "It's a bit difficult to explain Soup."
"Doing conjuring tricks in company time is one thing but actually hiding like you've magically vanished sounds suspiciously like skiving to me."
"It won't happen again Donna," Steven said apologetically, "At least, I'm not planning on it."
"Good, well stop standing there and go do your assigned task," Donna said before walking away without waiting for a response. She wandered off into the shelves to check on the other workers.
Andrea breathed a sigh of relief on Steven's behalf. "You got off easy there lad. You know how much of a bitch she can be when she's angry."
"I heard that," Donna's voice called from considerably closer than Andrea expected.
Andrea turned bright red from embarrassment. She quickly walked off herself, leaving Steven alone.
Now he had a few seconds to actually take stock of the situation, he thought about the clock that had summoned him to that parallel dimension. He wondered if a version of the timepiece existed in his own world. The idea was certainly intriguing to him. He wanted to try it out for himself. He thought about all the fun he could have, the interesting trips and the different versions of himself he could meet.
It baffled him as to how he would find it though. It could be anywhere on the entire planet. Assuming it existed at all.
Donna's voice could be heard shouting again. "Steven, stop standing there daydreaming and get back to work."
