Diana agrees to go to lunch with Barbara. She wasn't sure she would have fun but she felt bad that the other woman seemed lonely. She could relate to that as she often felt lonely though.
When the two of them went for lunch later that day, Diana was surprised that she was enjoying her time with Barbara. It was nice to have another person to talk to. She hadn't had a friend much less a lover in a long time. Barbara was sweet and was making her laugh.
"You are really funny Barbara. I am having a really good time. I don't usually go out much" the brunette admitted as she took a sip of her red wine.
Barbara could not hide her surprise. "Really? I would think you go out all the time. It seems like you are very popular" she said a little awkwardly.
Diana was quiet for a moment before speaking again. "I lost a boyfriend a long time ago. It was really hard to lose him and I shut myself off from people. It's been a struggle" she admitted.
Barbara nodded as she took this all in. "Were you in love with him?" she couldn't help but ask.
"I was! Have you ever been in love?" Diana asked Barbara in return.
"Oh yes! Many times" Barbara said.
"Then you understand how hard it is to lose someone you love" Diana said with a sad smile before taking another sip of her red wine.
"Do you know what I've found helps me cope with losing some I love?" Barbara asked her new friend.
Diana shook her head no.
"Comfort eating with sweets. How about we get some ice cream?" Barbara suggested.
"Ice cream sounds good" Diana agreed.
The two women both got a big bowl of chocolate ice cream.
Diana had loved ice cream ever since her late boyfriend introduced it to her back during World War 1. She hadn't had ice cream in awhile. She knew it was good but forgot just how good as she took her first bite. After she had her first bite, she couldn't stop until it was all gone.
"Thank you for the suggestion Barbara. That was delicious" Diana said as she sat back in her seat and gently patted her food baby through her blouse.
Barbara was surprised to see just how fast Diana devoured her ice cream. She was further surprised by how much she enjoyed watching the brunette and seeing her with a food baby. Clearly Diana loved sweets. She couldn't help but wonder if plying Diana with sweets was a good way to earn her friendship. And if Diana gained a few pounds, all the better as the brunette was too skinny and could use a few curves she thought.
