After that last lap, Cameron knew he'd qualify for the cross country team. He'd been training steady as a rock all summer long, making sure he'd be in tip top shape for the school year. As sweat dripped down his body, he was glad he took his shirt off. Even though he'd have to keep it on for competitions, he enjoyed feeling the rush of air over his bare chest as he ran. Few things gave him such a thrill as being half naked and breathing hard.
This was his first time on a co-ed team, though, and he wasn't sure if the girls would be putting in their fair share of the work. He saw a few girls had made the team with only a second or two to spare, causing him to roll his eyes. One girl watched him as he scoffed her efforts, and she made sure to let Tiffany know.
Tiffany was well developed for her age, and quite the avid runner herself. She was the unofficial leader of all the girls on the team. If any of the girls had an issue, they knew Tiffany could solve it. Even some of the boys had brought their problems to her, and she helped them all. Anything from bullies to just feeling left out, a talk with Tiffany always helped.
Cameron saw the girls talking to each other and looking in his direction. He figured he'd pissed one of them off already, but he didn't care. He was used to everyone eyeing him for one reason or another. He figured if they had something to say, they would eventually.
Tiffany decided to handle this one quickly. She didn't want any early season disruptions. As soon as qualifications were done, she marched right up to Cameron and looked him straight in the eye.
"You don't seem to be very impressed by some of these times today, are you?" She said, trying not to sound too condescending. "Not everyone is a world class athlete their first year, you know."
"Oh, I know," Cameron responded with the greatest of ease, "and at this rate they won't be much better by the end, either." Cameron gave Tiffany his half quirk of a smile and then continued, "Girls just aren't as good as boys are at running."
Tiffany couldn't believe her ears. This boy would have to be brought down a few pegs. She turned and stormed off before she did something she'd regret that might cost her her place on the team. A too proud boy wasn't worth her messing up her chances for a perfect year. She'd find a way to make him change his mind, one way or another.
Cameron laughed at his own joke as Tiffany rushed off, confident he'd made his point. He didn't mind running with girls on his team, they should just know who was better, that's all. He smiled brightly as he gloated about his time with his friends. Everywhere he looked the other boys admired him, even if he couldn't remember all of their names.
As he stood on the edge of the crowd, his waistband was clearly visible and an easy target for any would be wedgier. He was completely distracted and telling his story of his best lap for the tenth time. Then, out of nowhere, he felt the district tug of his underwear being yanked up his crack.
