The machine whirred up just like before, and a second later a red laser beam was shot, right into the dragon kid. Alex felt a tingling sensation, he giggled, and his frame glowed in red for a moment - and then the machine turned off.
"What happened?" asked Sam. He examined the kid, but he seemed unchanged. Same old height, about 2 feet tall.
"I don't know," answered Henry. He seemed just as confused. "It worked on the box."
"Should we shoot him again?"
"Yeah, it cannot hurt, I guess. Does it hurt, kid?"
Alex shook his head. "No, mister! It tickles!"
"Wanna have another tickle?"
Alex nodded. Henry turned back the machine again. This time he left the laser a bit longer hitting the child before he turned it off.
Again, the kid seemed to be the same.
"Ah, useless piece of cr..." said Henry, but Sam quickly replied, "Ssssh! The kid!"
Henry sighed. "Okay, child, let's bring you back to your room before someone starts to miss you. It seems we have to run more... experiments."
They brought back the child just as silently as they kidnapped him. Although as he was sitting in the lap of Sam, the anthro cat could have sworn that the dragon boy felt a bit heavier...
They pulled him back through his window.
"Here," said Sam, handing over a fluffy plush rabbit he bought earlier in order to keep the child calm. "A toy, just as I promised! And kid, if anyone asks: you didn't see us!"
Alex nodded, and he waved goodbye to the strange but kid friends.
