It was friday afternoon and the first day of Kaifuki’s weekend vacation. She stood just outside of the ryokan on a short, probably only four or five feet wide, patio with stairs down leading to a large garden rimmed with stone bricks. Going through it was a small creek that came in through the rock wall, opened into a pond and then flowed out the other side. The water was clear as glass and shimmered like it was liquid crystal, reflecting the light in all the colors of the rainbow. There were cherry blossom petals falling into the water, then floating along the creek and out with it. The petals lead Kaifuki’s eyes to the vista. It was downright breathtaking. The cafe was situated in a forest covered mountain range with a view of the sea stretching out into the horizon with some distant mountains slightly peaking over it. There were also several picnic benches, a shishi-odoshi, and a rock garden. In the center of the rock garden was a statue which was said to grant wishes.
In this beautiful place with Kaifuki were also three other girls. Over by the stream was a stick figure of a brunette (and her best friend) named Sai. She had her legs in the pond and she was laying down. She was tiredly staring up at the cherry tree. She looked to be quite relaxed, possibly taking a nap, but she’d occasionally kick at the water a bit, which proved she was awake.
Sitting at one of the four picnic benches were two other girls Kaifuki didn’t know all that well. One, yuki, was a girl with snow white hair and an absurd figure. She seemed quite tired and had her head on the table. The other, Nokori, was a taller girl with jet black hair, watching one of her martial arts matches on her phone and idly eating some chicken rice she ordered.
