The Visit Of A Being From Outer Space

Just as I’d successfully attached the pseudopod to the hem of the boy human’s clothing, swirling red and blue lights appeared from over the hill, and a new flashlight beam brighter than the boy’s was rapidly coming towards us.

“Johnny? Johnny Watson? Is that you? What in the heck are you doing out here starting fires son?” said a large adult human male in a uniform.

“Hi Sheriff Ray! It wasn’t me! It was space aliens! I saw some sort of football-shaped object over there in the underbrush.” replied the boy excitedly to the obvious authority figure.

“You mean that underbrush that you set on fire?” said the adult as he was now next to the Earthling boy.

“No Sheriff! Honest! It looked all burnt-up like a meteor, but I could see some of the ship under the ashes.” the boy asserted.

“Now son. What you saw was a plain old space rock. You know, a meteor!” replied the adult, “Now I’m going to radio for the fire department to get up here before this thing spreads. I want you to go on home now, and I’m going to take your word on it for the meteor story. This time. You just stay away from fires. Okay?”

While the two were discussing the fire my craft had caused in my crash landing, I was going into action. The one called Sheriff Ray had nearly stepped on me when he sidled up next to the boy. His uniform was a stiffer, thicker fabric than the boy’s sleep apparel, so it was much easier to sling an armlet up and hoist myself up and then snugly under the big belt he wore with an assortment of weapons and gear attached.
