You watch with curiosity as Dalton approaches the lounging blonde boy whose belly is starting to settle as the occupant within begins to lose hope as well as air.
“Shouldn’t we help him?” Ben asked with a tinge of concern in his voice.
With a shrug, you sit back and get comfortable before answering. “Remember the rules Ben, if you end up in a shitter one-on-one it’s your own fault” you recite the mantra you had heard from several other boys, most of which at some point lived up to it.
Trying to focus and read the blonde kid's lips you can’t make much out, but he seems bemused by whatever David is saying to him. After a moment of contemplation, the boy hoists up his rumbling belly with some difficulty and walks over to Dalton, pausing to unleash a massive belch along the way.
As both you and Ben wait for the moment of truth Dalton turns and with surprising speed, the blondie joins him in walking toward you.
“oh crap” the smug expression on both their faces tells you exactly what you need to know, Dalton has betrayed you in exchange for splitting a meal.
