The movie finally ended, and for Jack, it could have come way sooner, but finally, he was no longer suffering under the bratty little girl. She got up, apparently forgot about Jack, and left with her mom out of the theater. Barely able to move, Jack just laid there taking in deep breaths, hoping that he would be able to move soon. He opened his eyes and saw Mariah peering down at him.
"There you are. I can't believe how ignorant those people were, are you okay?" she worriedly asked. "I've seen better days" Jack chuckled. Mariah smiled. "You must have taken quite the pounding from that little brat, she never stopped moving in that chair". Jack groaned. "You're telling me. Her mom needs to calm her down, for crying out loud. Not to mention that attitude of hers. Anyways, can we get going? I'm pretty beat". Mariah nodded. She picked up Jack and put him in her coat pocket, not wanting to tease him after his whole ordeal. Jack simply laid back and went along with the sway of Mariah's coat. When Mariah arrived at her car, she took Jack out of her pocket and placed him on the middle armrest.
"I guess we're going back to my house, huh? You know, since you're pretty vulnerable that small.." Mariah's voice trailed off. She couldn't help being a little excited at the possibility of being able to spend so much time with Jack, especially with him at the size he was. "I suppose so," Jack sighed, "I'll text my mom and let her know I'll be staying the night at a friend's house". Mariah smiled then started the car and drove away.
The car ride was smooth, on the contrary to the movie theater, and Mariah and Jack just talked about anything that popped into mind and listened to music. When they arrived at the house, Mariah spoke up. "Hey, listen. If you're going to stay here, we have to make sure that you stay hidden, otherwise my family will probably bother you, or worse yet, maybe even squish you. I hate to do this, but I'm going to need you to hop back in here". She motioned to her chest and Jack sighed. "Seriously, if you hated it, why don't you put me in your pocket? That seemed to work at the movie theater". Mariah was flustered. "Well, uh, it's softer, you know? You'd probably be a lot more comfortable". Jack laughed. "Yeah, yeah, you're weird. Just put me in your pocket and we'll be good to go". Mariah rolled her eyes, but obliged.
In the house, Mariah was met by her mom and younger sister. "Hey, Mariah, how was the movies?" her mom greeted. "It was pretty good, there was a little bit of disturbace, but otherwise good" Mariah replied. "Say, where's that friend of yours you were talking about?" her sister, Kira, pitched in. "He had to head home, something about his mom or something, I don't know".
"Ah, okay. That's a shame, considering how much you talk about him" Kira cracked. Jack laughed in Mariah's pocket and she gave him a nudge. "Whatever, what about that boy toy of yours from school?" she retorted. "Oh please. He has nothing to do with anything right now, you love that guy and you know it". Mariah just huffed and went to the kitchen. "Dinner will be ready in ten, dear!" her mother called out. In the kitchen, Mariah grabbed a glass of water, then went to her room and set Jack down on her bed.
