John left his room laughing and headed down the stairs to see his mom starting dinner, she was standing over the stove string something in a pot that smelled good.
"Hey, Mom. Watcha cooking?" John asks as he walked over to peek over her shoulder.
"I was just making some gravy to go with our potatoes tonight." John's mom answered and looked over at him. She got a strange look on her face and looked down at him, "What are you carrying that around for?"
John had no idea what she was talking about. Carrying around? He looked down and noticed that paperweight was still in his right hand. "What the hell!?" John said around, knowing he put it down.
"Language, John!" His mother scolded. But John was too distracted to notice, he knew for a fact he put the weight back on his desk, and for some reason, he was now noticing that he couldn't seem to let go at all.
