Nick thought for a minute. He and Judy had been dating since Nick's first day on the police force. He had to propose to her in a way she'd least expect it. So, he said, "I was wondering if I could get a wedding ring. I was thinking about proposing to a fellow cop."
Stephanie stared down at Nick and stroked her beard.
"One wedding ring, coming right up!" she announced.
She went to the storage room while Nick looked around at all the other items in stocks. Just then, Stephanie returned with a velvet red box. She opened it up and there was a ring. It was decorated with a diamond, an emerald, a ruby, and a sapphire.
"That's a lot of jewels," Nick said.
"It gets better," Stephanie said. "If this cop you're planning to propose to is a different species from you, this ring will correct the problem."
"How?" Nick asked.
"Give it to her and you'll find out," Stephanie insisted.
Nick paid for the ring and walked out of the shop with it. Little did he know the ring would...
