She looked down at the display case in the counter.
"See this phone?" she said, pointing at an antique-looking phone in the case.
"Why would I need a phone?" Judy asked.
"Excellent!" Stephanie smiled.
She took out the phone and placed it on the counter. Judy wanted to tell her that she was skeptical about the phone, but Stephanie ignored her.
"I'll even throw in this rug for free," Stephanie said, holding up a rolled-up rug.
"You had me at rug!" Judy said, placing money on the counter.
She knew Nick would like the rug better than the phone.
At her apartment, Judy placed the phone on her desk and rolled out the rug on the floor. However, the rug came to life and every time Judy tried to flatten it, it rose again and again.
"Are you what I think you are?" she asked.
The rug nodded.
"You're a magic carpet!" Judy said with glee. "I never thought I'd live to see one. Where's the genie's lamp?"
The magic carpet walked up to the phone, picked it up, and held it out to her.
"You've got to be kidding me," Judy said. "That's just a phone. Surely, if I rub, some genre's going to appear."
She rubbed the phone to prove the contrary, but it rang instead.
"Must be a cordless phone," she said. "There's no connection."
Then she picked the phone off the receiver and held it to her ear.
"Hello!"
Without warning, smoke started coming out of the phone, filling the room. The smoke detector was going off like crazy. As Judy rushed to get a fire extinguisher, out of the smoke came the almighty genie. Judy reacted with awe.
