It hit Stephanie in an instant what this rabbit's problem was. Clearly Judy was reluctant to make the first move into whatever this person of interest of hers was. In fact, Stephanie wagered that the guy was perhaps waiting for some kind of sign that Judy was interested in a relationship. Judy needed to be bold. Confident. Loud. Big! Especially big. And Stephanie had just the thing.
"How do you feel about elephants?" Stephanie asked out of the blue.
"Elephants?" Judy replied. "I suppose they're just like any other mammal. Folks of all sorts. Shades of grey, literally in their case."
"I see. And how about your friend?"
"Nick?" Judy thought for a moment. "I think he likes elephants a lot."
"Does he now?"
"Well, outside of when we first met where one of them didn't have such nice things to say about foxes, I believe 'appreciates' is a better word. Elephants are...Well, they're quite large, you see. And my friend enjoys striking up a good bargain on deals, from furniture to food. Since elephants require so much more substance, they tend to have those items cheaper in bulk."
"I see...Your friend is quite the hustler, isn't he?"
Judy blushed. "Kinda..."
"Hmm," Stephanie wondered out loud. "You know what you really need, girl? You don't need to get your fox any fancy items to coyly hint at your interest in him. What you need is a confidence booster!"
"What, uh, what do you mean?"
Stephanie reached down below her counter and pulled up a glass bottle filled with a curious orange liquid and marked with a sticker that looked suspiciously like an elephant.
"What I mean is what your fox would probably appreciate it if you just up and asked him out on a date. Skip all this awkward dancing around the issue and take a sip of this. This is the Essence of Elephant. One sip and you'll feel as bold and as big as one."
"I, uh. I dunno..."
"And I stake so much claim on it that I'm willing to let you try this sample for free," Stephanie said with a wink. "I promise, it ain't got nothing unnatural or any drugs in it. It's just a little boost to work up the nerves to talk to him. What do you say?"
Judy was truthfully having a hard time saying no, especially if it was for free. She gingerly accepted the vial as Stephanie lowered it into her paws.
"...Why not?" Judy finally relented. "I've been trying to get his attention for months. Might as well, right?"
"That's the spirit, honey! Now, the elixir only lasts for twelve hours. Make sure you drink it in someplace that offers enough space for your new ego. Oh, and mind your clothes during the process."
Those were all odd details but Judy was a bit more preoccupied over other things. Like when she was going to approach Nick? Or when she was going to consume this strange potion?
