"Here we are!" Stephanie chimed in as she held up what appeared to be a gun with a small satellite dish attached to the barrel with a small knob on the back where the hammer would be.
"What on earth," replied Judy.
"I found this little beauty on the set of one of those old science fiction movies and made some modifications of my own. Does your friend happen to be a fan of those older B movies that used to run on the TV?"
Judy thought for a moment and realized that something like that would be up Nick's alley, given his gaudy choice in outfits and personal taste in the old fashioned. Besides that, it certainly was a...Unique gift. It didn't quite say anything romantic but it was something different and special.
Stephanie smiled as Judy slowly convinced herself that this might be a good option, unaware of the qualities of the gun that the shopkeeper neglected to mention. Such things were best left as a surprise, after all.
"...I guess that will work," Judy decided at last, coming up with truly nothing else. "How much?"
"For you, darling? Five bucks! Call it a friendly discount and perhaps I'll see you again soon."
The prop ray gun certainly looked more expensive with that, but for some reason Judy couldn't protest against the giant goat. Almost like there was a greater reason that she was selling the item so cheap to her. Instead, Judy quietly paid for her gift and bagged it up to head home, a chance to wrap it in some paper before she handed it over to Nick tomorrow on Valentine's Day. Judy thanked Stephanie and quickly went on her way.
One long bus ride later and she eventually got home to her apartment and dropped the device on her desk, taking a moment to examine it more closely now that she was alone.
It was all rather strange and heavy for something that was supposed to be a prop. The knob on the back wasn't labelled with anything other than an "S" on one end and a "G" on the other, with it set to the "G." Judy continued to fiddle with the device before absentmindedly pressing the trigger, thinking it would do nothing. It came to her complete surprise when the ray gun did fire a bright beam of green light that surged forward and bounced off the mirror in Judy's room before going back to her.
