Chara and Asriel were really close in the few years they spent with each other ever since Chara fell down into the Underground.
They’ve watched each other age from toddlers into young adolescents. But because of this, Asriel seemed to be rising over Chara very quickly.
“Another inch?!” Chara cried out in shock.
Asriel and Chara had been measuring their heights side by side at the end of each week for the last month. Chara only grew roughly a quarter of an inch every week. While Asriel was growing roughly an inch every few days.
“Don’t feel bad Chara, boss monsters like Mom and Dad tend to grow faster than regular monsters. As well as live longer too.”
Chara snuffed as he looked at the major difference between his height and Azzy’s. Each mark on the wall had a date. Each one being about a few days apart. Chara and Asriel were now about a head apart from each other. When back when they first met, they were both the same height.
“It’s just… you’re growing so fast and I’m just… stuck down here.” Chara crossed his arms and looked away.
“Sorry Chara… I guess I’m just gonna keep growing like this for a while.” Asriel shrugged, while Chara tapped his foot on the ground angrily.
“Kids! Lunch time!” Asgore called from down the hall.
“Be right there!” Asriel called.
Chara stood idly as he watched Asriel run down the hall. He looked at the height charts again and had a look of determination on his face.
“I will catch up to you Azzy, I will be taller.” Chara muttered.

A few hours passed, and Chara headed out of the house on his own to go on a walk.
“Don’t be gone too late!”
“I won’t!” Chara called back as he walked outside of the ruins towards Snowdin.
The townsfolk were bustling about minding their own business. As Chara began to walk through the town, he began to wonder.
